I am very happy to be a member of a gym now and be able to take spinning classes. I love spinning for some reason. I guess it is because it is an incredibly good work out that has you sore for the next several days. It takes a lot of will-power and endurance to make it through an entire class and do one more sprint and it does not require a lot of skill. I have done spinning quite a few times now and I have decided that the key to a good spinning class is the music. The beat of the music really makes a difference for me. If the instructor has fast-paced music that I can really get into, I can almost trick my body by getting into the music so much that I forget I am completely out of breath, my muscles are working to the max and my whole body could collapse at any moment into a heap of noodles on the floor. The other day, an instructor had much slower-paced music and it really effected my ability to endure the hour long class and my momentum. It was my worst spinning class ever! I wanted to tell him how terrible his music was but I resisted since during the whole class he kept announcing how good the following song would be. I came home and looked up spinning on the computer. I found out that to be an instructor requires the completion of a 9-hour course. I really like the idea of teaching spinning. It would not be like teaching any other kind of aerobics where I would have to remember a routine and master a bunch of fancy footwork etc. I think I will keep going for a while and then look into be an instructor sometime in the future. Now that's something to look forward to....

That would be awesome, Joyce. You would be a great teacher. I actually certified to teach aerobics right before we moved to Utah. Too bad I always thought I was too fat to actually teach. My certification expired without ever using it :(
Yay! I'm sooo glad to hear you joined a gym, and that you're loving it so much. Your talk about spinning classes gives me energy to give the gym another go... I've slacked off the last few weeks, once I stopped losing even an ouce of baby weight. But I will try again. And will stop eating ice cream, or something, as well? maybe.
Oh, by the way, I think that's so great that your gym has a hair salon? What a good idea -- so you can drop your kids off while you get your hair done. sounds perfect, as long as they do a good job, of course.
