This is how Sammy spends most of her days when we are at home lately -- on the pot! She goes to the toilet so much it exhausts me. However, if you give her a nice stack of books she will stay on there for a good half hour. She is doing really well with her potty training. She has now graduated to wearing "grown-ups" her word for pull-ups.
Abby and Sammy love playing in all the snow. We have had a few ridiculously cold, frigid days here so far. They say that is how the entire months of January and February are. I am already asking myself why anyone would live here and WHY we do??? Why couldn't Charles take a job in sunny California, tropical Florida or the deserts of Dubai??? I hate cold weather. Why must I sufferand endure so much? Charles' firm does have an office in Los Angeles, I will have to work on getting us a transfer...
I must say though, it is so much easier to deal with winter when you have a house. The other day, we had a playgroup at our house of 8-10 mothers and their children. Most of the children were down in the basement the entire time speed racing their bikes and having the best time while all the mothers lounged on the couch or grazed on snacks in the kitchen enjoying quiet conversation. That was priceless!

And is Santa bringing them these instruments they want? I have daily conversations with Owen that perhaps Santa may think a tuba is slightly too big for him.
I wish Holden were willing to sit on the pot like Sammy. He is NOT doing well with potty training. The other day we went to IKEA and Hudson got to stay in their kids play area while Holden was told that only kids that wear underwear are allowed. He kept telling me he's ready for underwear, but we've yet to see any evidence.
Yes, I agree cold weather is the worst! Unfortunately, Darin loves it so the idea of year-round California weather is not cool with him.
Cute pics. Merry Christmas to you all. I was not on the ball to get Christmas cards out this year. Oh well.
Grace is doing way too much with Potty-training. I am SO not ready to train her (she's only 21 months) but she comes and tells me she needs to go potty and she always has to go when you change her diaper. If you do not let her go when she wants, she throws a HUGE fit. Funny thing is that she actually goes within a minute or so of sitting there. She then stands up and says "all done." I will give it a good try after Christmas and see how it goes. It would sure be nice to only have one in diapers once the baby comes.
Sammy (your youngest, right?) looks like an angel. I'm sure kids are kids, but every picture I see of her she looks like she came straight from heaven. I saw your book list and will have to check some out. Rusty and I have an enormous list of favorites as well. I'll send a few recommendations and I'll try to get a better list posted on our blog as I've been intending to do for some time. LOVE: Ken Wilber, esp. A Brief History of Everything. Also, (sorry I need to get my authors listed too, but you may locate without) A Girl Named Zippie, A New Earth, Eat Pray Love, A Return to Love - Marianne Williamson . . . I'll get my list together soon hopefully. Hope you had happy holidays! Love your BIG tree :)
Just be happy that your kids like the snow. My kids cry after being out in the snow for just a few minutes. It makes it really hard to make a snowman!!!
