Inauguration Day
We watched the inauguration of President Obama today. I pointed out our new president to Abby and Sammy, so they were sure to know who he is. They have been giggling about and repeating his name over and over ever since the day I went to vote for him. I asked Abby if she was proud to be an American and she responded, "no, I want to go back to England."

I'm with her (sometimes.)
We forced the kids to watch it too, it felt a bit like Gen. Conf. sitting on our sofa constantly asking the kids to keep their voices down so we could hear what he was saying etc.
BTW I liked Glass Castle. Hit home a bit too much, and is one of the first great "discussion" books I've read. Too bad the language makes it iffy for the group I go to. Thanks for the recommend.
Abby's response cracks me up! Good that you have that written down.
Hil.ar.i.ous! Something much be catchy about Obama's name because Jack does the same thing. We didn't watch much of the inauguration but every time Jack sees his photo (which is all the time) he says, "President Obama". He knows who he is ... guess he's easy to identify?
I need to quiz him now though, to see if he thinks some other black guy is Pres Obama too. He thought anyone with a white beard must be Santa Claus at Christmas... and pictures of dignified-looking men in the newspaper are Pres Monson. :) Silly kids... still learning.
