I guess after living in New York City and London where cell phone talking is against the law, I have developed strong views on the issue. This is an issue I would go to the legislature in every state to try and get passed. I feel that strong about it. I think talking on a cell phone (even hands-free talking) while driving is bad and very distracting but I am flabbergasted that people would actually text on their phone while driving. It is so dangerous and this article finally confirms everything I have thought for a while now. Take a look. Tell me what you think.

I didn't read the article yet, but I'm going to agree with you. Brian and I both have some strong views about cell phone driving. I'm sure Brian has tons of stats to prove his point, too. But people still do it, sadly. Let's start picketing!!
I found the Salt Lake City Representative's statement quite compelling: "You can't legislate against stupidity".
Those who will cause the accidents by talking on their cell phones, I submit, are also the ones who would have the propensity to cause the accidents via other means--even just driving with no gadgets as distractions. They're called "bad drivers", and there are many (each of us who drives makes bad choices even when devoid of distracting external stimuli).
I'm not sold yet. I have enough issues with a governing body feeling that it knows better than me how to conduct my life...but that changes the subject somewhat from cell phone use to politics in general.
