My Hill Billy Child

Sammy has been losing her two front teeth for the past TWO months and she has taken on a "hill billy look" throughout the whole process. Here she is with her first front tooth that was loose and sticking out all over the place. Of course here they don't say your tooth is "loose." They say it is "wobbly."

She was too guarded and wouldn't let anyone pull it out, despite my repeated attempts.

Look how it just hangs...aaaaccckkk!

....and bends every which way....

FINALLY after many long days/weeks of wiggling the darn thing, tooth #1 came out! Praise the day! However, we were not done with the "hill billy-ness." Tooth #2 now became loose and looked even worse!

This is with a silly hill billy grin...

Ugggghhh...disgusting!

Would somebody please yank that thing out! When she talked, it would flap about in her mouth...

There is a good hill billy look!

That's not too bad either...

Ok it's true, I got so tired of watching that tooth flap about, that I yanked it out myself and it didn't even hurt! Now we have a VERY cute toothless smile! No more hill billy-ness! Hallelujah!

When tooth #1 fell out, Sammy did not want to put it under her pillow for the tooth fairy because tooth #2 was loose by then and she wanted to put them together under her pillow. When tooth #2 fell out, we had to search her room high and low for tooth #1. As a mother, I must say, I LOVE the thought of little teeth scattered about my house. Fortunately, we did eventually find it and the tooth fairy has safely disposed of them! Hooray! Now let's just pray those new teeth come in straight....

(This book is about Queen Mary, Katherine of Aragon's daughter, and the Queen-to-be Elizabeth, Anne Boleyn's daughter. There is also a fictional character Hannah. I loved it!)

(A great overview of recent Afghan history. Check out the bookseller's rebuttal book published this year.)

-Virgins of Paradise by Barbara Wood
(I loved this book. It focuses on an Egyptian family from the 1940s to the present. It was a really good look at Egyptian culture and politics as they have changed through the years.)

-A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini

-The Chosen by Chaim Potok
(This is a good look at Jewish life. I liked reading the history of the formation of the state of Israel and the different reactions of various Jews throughout the book.)

(Meyer is a myth buster. The myth he tackles in this book is Americans' idea that communist regimes in the Cold War fell because of the United States' involvement. He is an excellent historian. I really enjoyed this book!)

--Hunting Eichmann: How a Band of Survivors and a Young Spy Agency Chased Down the World's Most Notorious Nazi by Neal Bascomb
(This book is now on my list of all-time favorites. It was thrilling and so fascinating. I highly recommend it!)
