Christmas and New Year's Festivities

On Christmas eve, we have a shepherd's meal. We eat lamb in pita bread with tabbouleh, feta cheese, olives and yogurt. We eat our meal on the floor like the shepherds might have and watch The Nativity Story. The girls then get to open up Christmas pajamas.

Everything wrapped and ready

Christmas morning, we get up and open presents and have Christmas tree shaped cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate.

Opening presents

Christmas dinner consists of Charles' au gratin potatoes, roasted ham and my Serbian Christmas bread (pictured above) with a one pound coin hidden inside. Whoever gets the coin, has a year of good luck.

Here is the big meal complete with Christmas crackers (a British tradition).

We have lots of visitors throughout the holidays. On Boxing Day, we have a family we know over for dinner, cranberry muffins with butter sauce and Victorian party games. The following day, Anh and her sister Kat paid us a visit. We also had another family over a few days after that for games and dinner. Lots of entertaining but good times.

On New Year's eve, we had 5 people over for a party. We had loads of food, made a music video, played the new game Pie in the Face and celebrated midnight with 100 balloons, confetti, bubbly and more Christmas crackers. The house was trashed but lots of fun!

I also make a New Year's cake but I didn't take a picture of it this year.

The balloons just beginning to pour out of the garbage bags as New Year's hits. Woo hoo! Happy New Year 2016!!!!
