Give a Pig a Pancake!

We went to a show this past week called "Give a Pig a Pancake." We got third row seats! Abby and Sammy were very excited. The show was a reenactment of about eight children's books. The actors/actresses were spectacular and had Abby and Sammy laughing. We went with a mother's group I am in and someone had connections so we even got to go backstage after the show and get our pictures with the cast! (Abby didn't want to be in the pictures with the cast, so only Sammy is shown.) The girls sat through the show really well which is very exciting to me because this may mean we can go to some others like Lion King etc.... Hooray!!!!

Preschool Winter Concert

Abby had her Winter Concert today and did really well despite the fact that she did not open her mouth once to sing... she looked cute though!

Our Latest Art Work

Here is some of Abby's latest artwork. She loves to draw pictures of herself. Each one is similar but so adorable.

And here is my latest artwork. My friend and I decided to be crafty and made these wooden letters to hang in our childrens' rooms. I am very happy with the way mine turned out. I am going to hang the girls' names in their room after I paint it a cheery, light lime green. I am also going to get a bunch of colorful frames and frame their latest artwork around the room. I am really excited to decorate their room. This is the FIRST time ever that I get to decorate my children's room because we have always rented. Hooray for owning your own home!

Back to 1955

We went to a sock hop the other night at the children's museum, complete with poodle skirts and LIVE DJ who looked like the Fonz from "Happy Days."
Abby would only dance with her friend Joseph, no one else and she didn't warm up to the idea of dancing until the thing was almost over.

Sammy had no problem participating in all the dances.

She even tried the hula!

This is what Abby did most of the time - sat on the side observing with Daddy who also refused to dance. The two are so much alike...

Here's Abby getting jealous that Joseph is dancing with some chick in a poodle skirt instead of her.

It was a swingin' good time!

Inauguration Day

We watched the inauguration of President Obama today. I pointed out our new president to Abby and Sammy, so they were sure to know who he is. They have been giggling about and repeating his name over and over ever since the day I went to vote for him. I asked Abby if she was proud to be an American and she responded, "no, I want to go back to England."

Christmas

Here are the cookies Abby and Sammy decorated for Santa, mmmmm don't they look tasty with gobbs of icing and sprinkles...

Abby and Sammy love their new jump-o-lene from Aunt Susi!
We had Christmas dinner at Elijah's house with lots of tasty food.

New Year's Eve was spent with some friends who joined us from London with lots of break dancing, fondue and bubbly...

We also took our friends from out of town to a jazz club in Chicago.

This was Abby's reaction to them leaving. She was so depressed that she just threw herself on the sidewalk in the freezing cold and wouldn't move or speak. She loved having our London friends visit.

Here's Abby hair after some wild jumping on the jump-o-lene...
