Blogging Blahs & Mary Poppins

I've got a good case of the "blogging blahs" as I call it. I have a million different pictures on my camera of things we have been doing and places we've been but I have no desire to download, arrange, caption and post them. I just don't feel like it. Charles has been off work for the whole month of February studying for the Illinois State Bar, which he took this past Tuesday and Wednesday. He now has the rest of the week off and doesn't return to work until the first of March when he will promptly leave town on business for a few days. I say all this because I believe it has a part in why I have not felt the urgency to blog. I have just been enjoying all the extra time that we have been able to spend with him this month. We'll see if life going back to normal motivates me or not.

I must tell you though that we watched Mary Poppins last night with Abby and Sammy for the first time and they loved it. Abby had a bewildered look on her face most of the time. Though in the "I love to laugh" scene where they float up to the ceiling laughing she looked like she would also burst out laughing. Sammy just got up and danced all around the room everytime they broke into a new song. They also both loved the scene where they are on the carousel and then go prancing off into the countryside on their wooden horses. Abby loves watching old movies with lots of dancing. We DVR'd a program that showcases a bunch of dance scenes from various old movies and she watches it over and over. I love my little girlies...

Give a Pig a Pancake!

We went to a show this past week called "Give a Pig a Pancake." We got third row seats! Abby and Sammy were very excited. The show was a reenactment of about eight children's books. The actors/actresses were spectacular and had Abby and Sammy laughing. We went with a mother's group I am in and someone had connections so we even got to go backstage after the show and get our pictures with the cast! (Abby didn't want to be in the pictures with the cast, so only Sammy is shown.) The girls sat through the show really well which is very exciting to me because this may mean we can go to some others like Lion King etc.... Hooray!!!!

Preschool Winter Concert

Abby had her Winter Concert today and did really well despite the fact that she did not open her mouth once to sing... she looked cute though!

Our Latest Art Work

Here is some of Abby's latest artwork. She loves to draw pictures of herself. Each one is similar but so adorable.

And here is my latest artwork. My friend and I decided to be crafty and made these wooden letters to hang in our childrens' rooms. I am very happy with the way mine turned out. I am going to hang the girls' names in their room after I paint it a cheery, light lime green. I am also going to get a bunch of colorful frames and frame their latest artwork around the room. I am really excited to decorate their room. This is the FIRST time ever that I get to decorate my children's room because we have always rented. Hooray for owning your own home!

Back to 1955

We went to a sock hop the other night at the children's museum, complete with poodle skirts and LIVE DJ who looked like the Fonz from "Happy Days."
Abby would only dance with her friend Joseph, no one else and she didn't warm up to the idea of dancing until the thing was almost over.

Sammy had no problem participating in all the dances.

She even tried the hula!

This is what Abby did most of the time - sat on the side observing with Daddy who also refused to dance. The two are so much alike...

Here's Abby getting jealous that Joseph is dancing with some chick in a poodle skirt instead of her.

It was a swingin' good time!
