- The ease of travel to Europe and other destinations - I love that it is so easy to take a long weekend trip to Spain or Greece or wherever else. This is by far the thing I will miss the most!
- Great produce - London has great fruits and vegetables that I am afraid I won't get in the States.
- Parks - London has the most beautiful parks that are so well manicured with gorgeous flowers and gardens.
- The English Garden - The English take so much pride in their garden. It is a national trait and I really admire it.
- Being an expatriate
- The diversity - London is much more diverse than anywhere I have ever been (including New York, in my opinion). There are so many different cultures here, it is incredible.
- England in the sun - Even though we don't see much of it, when the sun is out there is nothing better. England is amazing in the sun!
- Daytrips to the country - We have had such lovely daytrips to the countryside here. The little villages are so picturesque and quaint. It is the best break from the fast pace of the city.
- My neighbor Estelle and her family - We have the best landlords/neighbors. They have been incredibly friendly and so nice. Estelle has been Abby and Sammy's Jewish grandmother. She is always giving them presents and spoiling them like her own grandchildren. She always just opens the gate between our gardens and lets them wander in and out of her house playing with the toys. Abby is always asking to go see Estelle.
- Mild Winters - I have never minded the winters here in England. We rarely get much snow if any and it isn't unbareably cold. It is a pretty mild winter if you ask me but then again, we moved here from New York City where I thought I would freeze to death if I stepped outside.
- Our friends - of course we will miss our friends here. Great friends are what make a place feel like home.

Great things to miss.
I was watching some BBC shows on PBS this afternoon, and was getting nostalgic :)
How sad I didn't make it back to my favorite country to visit some of my favorite people!!! Darn, I should have quit my job and been your nanny for all this time!!! I do think I might have a better chance of getting to Chicago...I think...LOL!!! Yes, it will be quite the change for you and the kids and I hope that the job change is good for Charles...at least we will be able to talk more often!!! Now that excites me!!! Love ya!!!
that is so exciting and sad, we will be coming through Chicago on about the 12th of august, how close are you to the airport? I don't even like it here very much and I know I will be sad to leave all my friends and new sights. Just think of all the new adventures you will have. You will trade your rains for the winds.
What?! Has it only been five years? A lot has happened in those five years. We didn't get over there soon enough, I guess. I've always had a dream about moving to London and being able to hang out with you guys more. Hmm, the odds aren't much better that we'll be moving to Chicago, but at least a visit is more realistic. And you already have friends there too!
Moving is never fun, but you definitely have made the most of your time there. Way to live it up your final month too! I'm so jealous!!
Good luck!
Congratulations on your new adventure! Chicago is a great place and the Mladineos will be thrilled to have you nearby I'm sure. My brother lives in DeKalb (about one hour outside Chicago) so I now have several reasons to visit. Enjoy your fabulous month of vacation. You all deserve it! Best of everything to the Farns.
Oh, this post made me sad! It is going to be sad to see you guys go. I'm so happy you guys have a blog though!! Have you read Istanbul by Orhan Pamuk? If not, you should read it before you go, I read it while we were there and it was really fun.
I would miss those things too, you have been so lucky to have had the experience of living over in London. Wow! If we're ever up in Chicago I'll let you know.
Wee hoo! We are so, so excited that you'll be nearby very soon! Enjoy the these last days in your wonderful London home. I'm sure that you will be sorely missed!
