LIVE from Chicago
We have now been in Chicago for two weeks. It has been a big leap for us. We have been and continue to be quite busy getting settled here. In the first week, we bought a car, a computer and a cell phone. We have now narrowed down the area in which we want to live but have still not decided on a house in which to live. My initial impression was that the Chicago suburbs felt like a ghost town because no one was walking out on the street, yet I was sitting in a parking lot of traffic. Things seem so spread out compared to London and we already drive everywhere! We also already really miss London. We are slowly making the transition though and we have seen some houses we are really excited about. We are currently staying in a corporate housing condo with a pool and gym. Abby and Sammy really love the pool and we swim almost everyday. I finally got some tennis shoes and have taken to the gym. So things really aren't so bad. We are really enjoying spending time with my brother and catching up with our old friends from New York. Don't expect too many posts from me at the moment because we have the world's slowest dial-up internet access. Therefore, I will have to put off posting all of our pictures from our last trip to Croatia. Anyway, that's all from us at the moment. I will let you know when we find our dream home....

Welcome back. I'm sure it's a major adjustment. I think the big thing is just realizing that you will enjoy very different things. There's really no comparing. At least that is how I felt leaving New York. Good luck in the house hunt. I'm sure it will be challenging and fun! We'll look forward to pics later.
XOXO.
Chicago is lucky to have you! Hey, send me your phone number and I can call you...I know how to make a long distance call, just not international :) Good luck with the house hunt!
Nice to hear that you have arrived safe and sound. Good luck as you settle in and hunt for your dream home. I can't even imagine about how different (read difficult emotionally) life out of a big city would be for me. You are one strong woman.
The day for us may come (I hate to think of that). I'll be calling you for advice when that day comes. Until then, we'll look forward to hearing all the fun times you are having back in the states. Yes, a building with a pool and gym may not be so bad... as long as you can stay inside. :) I don't miss driving.
Welcome back!
