If Only I Could be Wonder Woman....

The girls have been really obsessed with watching the Wonder Woman t.v. series lately. Alex especially has really become obsessed and Abby will get all homework and chores done in record speed if I promise she can watch Wonder Woman after. Do you remember the lovely 1970s show starring Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman but disguised as Diana Prince? It only lasted from 1975 to 1979 and we have now watched every episode. The girls were so sad to learn there were no more made. Apparently, CBS ultimately decided to move The Incredible Hulk up to the Friday night slot of Wonder Woman and introduce the new series The Dukes of Hazzard and no further episodes of Wonder Woman were produced. I remember watching Wonder Woman as a little girl but I don't remember the acting being so awful or Wonder Woman's super heroine costume being so ill-fitted. The bottom is a bit saggy on her (it gets a little better in the second season). It is disturbing how small her waist is. The fight scenes are laughable with Wonder Woman giving a light push to the bad guys and the men falling over as if dead. It rocks! If your memory is a bit foggy, I have added a few pictures below to help you...
Here is Wonder Woman in her awesome, high-tech, invisible airplane from the t.v. series. Alex got a Wonder Woman figure and "invisible airplane" for Christmas. She loves it. (Thanks Susi!)

Here is Diana Prince. The fictional career of Diana Prince evolved over the years, from the original Army nurse to becoming a military intelligence officer (promoted to higher ranks), then later a civilian employee, businesswoman, astronaut, or staff member at the United Nations, etc. Alex dresses as Diana with her large round sunglasses and her hair up in a pony tail/bun.

When Diana turns into Wonder Woman, she spins around and her tightly done up hair comes out and flows down onto her shoulders and she is suddenly dressed in her little Wonder Woman get-up, boots and all. We made Alex a crown just like Wonder Woman out of cardboard and empty  toilet paper rolls for her wrist bands. I couldn't believe she could get her little wrists into them. She uses a jump rope for the "rope of truth" (or whatever it is called). She wore her crown and wrist bands to nursery school and amazingly her teacher immediately recognized her as Wonder Woman. I was so impressed! Everyone else just thought she was a princess...

Alex loves it when I shoot at her and she can deflect the bullets off her wrist bands just like Wonder Woman. She even puts on a cool facial expression just like this...
