Some Pics of the Girls

Sammy is getting to be such a big girl. Here she is trying so hard to walk in her little school girl outfit.

Here is Abby and her boyfriend Noah. They are watching "Bob the Builder." Apparently, they have decided that Noah is "Bob" and Abby is "Wendy." (If you haven't seen the show, then you are probably a little clueless.)

Here is Abby and her friend Noah being cozy in their blankets watching "Bob the Builder."

Me? A Race Car Driver. Hmmm... I like the sound of that!

This past Friday, my friend and I decided to spice up our dull and boring lives as housewives and do a little race car driving. Mazda had set up a race track at the mall near our house and so it was the perfect venue for our adventurous exploits. Also, since I have just recently acquired my U.K. driving license, I thought I would take it out for a spin. We went down to the mall with three kids in tow and signed up. The Mazda people saw my brand new driver's license (I passed my test four days previous) and mocked me endlessly about being a brand new driver. I kept reminding them that I was not a new driver and that I have been driving for 15 years or so but I think they just liked the idea that a mother of two with a brand new driver's license was going to race one of their cars. After a briefing, we were sent off to our cars accompanied by a professional driver. I was not used to the power and handling that these cars had. They were only Mazdas but they did have some incredible power that my little French car (Citroen Xantia) does not have. The professional driver, Nick, kept telling me to give it more gas and stop stepping on the brake. I drove as fast as I could around the tight turns and curves of the race track. I made three attempts. If you take a close look at the picture above and the picture below, you will see my racing times. The picture above was my second attempt, 29 seconds. My first attempt was a slow 30 seconds (see below). After looking at the Mazda website, I apparently did not do so badly. Out of 250 drivers, I placed 44th! Isn't that amazing? I WAS BORN to race!!!

Sushi Woes....

Seven of the world's top Sushi Samurais will be under ONE roof, competing for the 2007 Sushi Award here in London on October 23rd (just thinking about it makes my mouth water and my eyes cross). Each samurai creates a sushi dish for the event and serves it to the audience, who along with Mr. Masayoshi Kazato, Vice President of the All Japan Sushi Association, vote on the best dish. Each samurai has a proven reputation for producing the highest quality sushi and is representative of the BEST sushi talent in his respective country. For a mere £60, I (ME) could go and sample this sushi (eating all I want) and vote. Now for the depressing part (brace yourselves), I have NO ONE to go with. Yes, it is true. I married a man who does not do sushi! Charles looks at sushi and his top lip curls up and his nose wrinkles like a kid who has just been handed a plate of brussel sprouts. Any friends I have that are "into sushi" are really only into eating california rolls and nothing too exotic. My ONE friend who is as much of a sushi fanatic as me, will be in China in October. It kills me to miss this, but I can't go alone. Oh why? Why must I suffer so much? Naoki, Andrei, Noriyoshi, Masashi, Jose and Jeff as well as the two surprise sushi samurais, I just want to say how sorry I am. It deeply saddens me to abandon you at such an important and crucial time. I will miss you, more than you know....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LITTLE SAMMY!

Sammy drowning in her pool full of balls.

Muscle girl Sammy could teach Daddy a thing or two....

We had the missionaries over and found out that one of them just had a birthday too. So, we had a combined party bash.

Everyone but Sammy blowing at the candles.

German chocolate cake for everyone but Sammy. She was too tired and just needed to go to sleep. Poor girl!

I PASSED!!!!!

I FINALLY passed my U.K. driving test! I am now licensed to drive in all of the E.U. The U.K. driving test is not easy. This is my second attempt after hours of driving lessons and months of this hanging over my head. I am so happy. Now I can go to IKEA....
