Abby and Mum Do Lunch and Jewelry?

Abby and I went out for a special lunch and a little jewelry shopping last week. We left Sammy home with a babysitter. We met up with two of my friends at Liverpool Street and Spital Fields Market, which happens to be where Charles works but he was NOT invited. It was girls only. Our lunch was great. We ate at a quaint little Italian cafe. I had the best salmon fishcakes accompanied by a fresh salad and topped off with a mango and orange smoothie. Abby nibbled a ham and cheese panini with chips (french fries) on the side. She acted like a little lady all through lunch. She even insisted on wearing a little skirt and her large, purple, dress-up earrings so she would be sure to fit in as one of the gals. However, I was too ambitious and decided not to bring a stroller. Apparently, that was not wise. After lunch as we excitedly started our window jewelry shopping with eager intentions to buy, Abby got tired. She started out good, impressing us all as she pointed to her favorites. I helped her recognize the sparkly, large pieces and quizzed her on her lines to repeat when she saw her father next. Sayings such as, "Daddy, I want diamonds. Daddy, Mama and I like jade. Emeralds are sure nice." Unfortunately, this did not last long and she quickly forgot her lines. I ended up holding her and doing more harm to an already injured and painful back. I realized, sadly, jewelry shopping was not to be. I called Charles, who came down and met up with us and took a bit of the strain off my back. After some meandering around the market, Charles was still unconvinced to buy me expensive jewelry, so we went up to view his office. He has a giant floor to ceiling window in his office, that makes you feel like you could just take a flying leap and free-fall the twelve floors to the pavement below. It is kind of unnerving. Abby got to spin around in his chair a few times and ride up and down the lift (elevator). We met his secretary and Abby even got very excited to "take a break" in the big office toilets. It was great. No worries about the jewelry shopping, there will be another chance. I think next time though, both Abby and Sam will stay with the babysitter...

Abby all dressed and ready to go to lunch.

Tres chic in the garden with Sammy.

Look how long Sammy's hair is getting. She is one years old and it is already half way down her back! I guess we can blame her hairy father for that.
